The Student Attitudes and Values Survey (SAVS) is an independent, nonpartisan research project that conducts an annual panel survey in Afghanistan.
SAVS is a systematic, comparative panel that measures students’ social, political, and economic values.
SAVS collected data from hundreds of students and young people in 2009 and 2010 in a range of educational institutions.
The students were mainly in their first year of studies, allowing us to track the development of the attitudes and values of the future elites of Afghanistan.
The students were drawn from disciplines seen as particularly crucial to the shaping of future political elites—the social sciences and law, including Islamic law.
The Survey consists of a core
of standardized demographic, behavioral, and attitudinal
questions. We also include topics of special interest and country-specific
questions.
We are extremely grateful for the participation, help and support from our co-researchers in Kabul.
We hope to expand to Iran,
Iraq, and beyond in the next few years.
